A large-scale public artwork commission for Network Rail at Glasgow Queen Street Station.
Commissioned as part of the station’s redevelopment, Fit for a Queen Street brought colour, pattern and local personality to one of Glasgow’s busiest public spaces. The work referenced the city’s crest, railway signage, signals and the visual language of movement through the station.
The artwork was designed for construction hoardings, giving a temporary but highly visible canvas a bit more energy during a long period of change. A giant Glasgow noticeboard, essentially, but with better colours.
