RISOTTO HQ is the custom-designed home of RISOTTO Studio at The Glue Factory in Glasgow.
The project transformed a 100 square metre industrial space into a flexible production environment for print, workshops, hosting, dispatch, storage, costume and whatever strange thing comes through the door next. I thought of it as my North Pole for production: everything within reach, everything with a place, but still full of colour, movement and a bit of operational magic.
At the heart of the space is the Green Room, a giant stepped structure that holds the technical needs of the print room inside, while creating a graphic display and storage system on the outside. Alongside Bisley steel units, mobile workbenches, flap curtains and almost everything on wheels, the studio is designed to morph around the work. It is not just a container for the practice, it is part of the practice.
